HA-EY Structure delivers design driven Structural Engineering both as part of our base service, as well as a stand-alone offering. In doing so, our structural engineering team works closely with like-minded Architects, Designers and Contractors through the lifespan of any given project.

Joseph Eyles MEng GMICE GMIStructE FRSA

Director & Structural Engineer

Joseph founded HA-EY in 2019, following a decade long career in structural engineering for prestigious, international firms. Based in London with involvement in globally facing schemes, Joseph has worked in practices that specialise in listed building renovations, refurbishment and high-end residential projects.

As a director at HA-EY, Joseph brings in-depth technical expertise to all projects, from concept stage through to completion. As a result, the studio’s design process benefits from structural guidance from inception – reducing time spent consulting externally and dedicating it to testing design ideas.

Having graduated with an MEng (hons) in Structural Engineering with Architecture in 2005 Joseph worked in several London Structural Engineering practices specialising in listed building renovations, existing building refurbishment and high-end residential schemes. Prior to co-founding HA-EY, Joseph worked as an Associate-Team Leader at Structural Design Consultancy AKT II on a number of high-profile projects, including: the new Google HQ, The MSD Discovery Centre in London’s Kings Cross, 100 Liverpool St, the ongoing Smithfield Market regeneration, and the redevelopment of the Daily Express Building in Fleet Street.

Joseph teaches Structural Design at The Architectural Association, UAL Central Saint Martins and at the Kent School of Architecture helping to shape the education and experience of young Architects.

Sean is an Associate Director at HA-EY Structure where he runs a technical forum across practices with Joseph.  Sean is also a Director at SPH Structures, which runs a flexible resource share and cross peer review with HA-EY Structure. Prior to this, Sean spent about 7 years working with consultancies and contractors that specialised in structural timber design, both traditional and cross laminated timber, before moving into the London market.

Sean graduated in 2007 from Coventry University with a BEng in Civil Engineering, followed by an MSc in Timber Engineering from Napier University. Sean became a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Structural Engineers (IStructE) in April 2018.

Cesar began work in civil construction as a CAD technician having partially completed a degree in Civil Engineering. Over the past 12 years Cesar has worked across a number of practices in his native Portugal before developing his BIM design and 3D modelling at AKT II in London.  Cesar has a track record of working on highly complex structures, pavilions and existing fabrics, and excels with a deep understanding of buildings, construction and fabrication detailing.
